My name is Afnan and I’m from Groton, Massachusetts. I am the oldest daughter of four girls and am studying Medical Biology/Pre-Med (3+4 D.O.). I have always wanted to become a physician and I am currently interested in becoming a pediatrician but who knows, that may change over time. One of my favorite hobbies I would say is reading. I love literature and reading classics! Despite me impatiently getting through good ol’ Hawthorne’s classic The Scarlet Letter, some of my favorite books of all time are: Tim O’Brien’s phenomenal The Things They Carried, In Cold Blood by Truman Capote, The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, Song of Solomon by Toni Morrison, To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee, The Catcher In The Rye by J.D Salinger, and FINALLY, Hamlet by William Shakespeare. Even though most students read these books either in high school or college, I still recommend them to anyone and everyone looking for a book to read.
I would say I come from a fairly close knit family as we practically do everything together. Perhaps its cultural who knows but my siblings and I have always been raised to value family time and so we would spent most of our time together. Some memorable experiences I have with my family are traveling to Canada (Quebec/Montreal, Toronto), the White Mountains in New Hampshire, Connecticut, New Jersey, Niagara Falls in NY/Canada, and probably the best of all, visiting family back home.
In addition to reading, I also have an obsession with sunrises and sunsets. Simply put, I am in love with them. I have taken several photos of sunrises and sunsets and have even gotten in trouble while doing so but it makes the perfect photo so it doesn’t even matter. Below is a sunset photo I took just last week behind the Danielle Ripich Commons.
