Practicing with peer review has enabled me to view my writing differently as it has allowed me to focus on the significant, global level issues and not really spend lots of time on the surface-level errors. In my first draft, I make sure to identify my my main argument, claims, and evidence throughout the essay. That way, if I cannot seem to spot a claim or certain evidence I will make a comment to make sure I go back and fix it. I also identify my sources to make sure I have the right amount needed for the certain assignment. In addition, I often note if I need different methods of source integration or text-to-text connections so that the essay does not fall strictly into the “5 Paragraph Essay” format and avoid any connections. I would say the peer review comments have helped me actually draft the essay because I write the essay considering the comments I receive on the previous ones, making sure to include every thing necessary. Overall, peer review has helped me construct my essays and criticize my work to make sure I have everything needed for the assignment.
