Creating a timeline of my history with reading and writing was challenging at first but became very easy as memories came back to me. I remembered stuff I had done from kindergarten up until my senior year of high school. I think it is a useful technique because it highlights the important aspects of my life pertaining to literacy, both positive and negative, in a chronological order.
Creating a web was also helpful during the pre-writing process and was very simple to work through. Since I am a visual learner, creating a web made it easier to think about a specific person and connect everything about that person together.
Literacy Narrative
This essay was different than past experiences I had done because the peer review process was altered and I actually prefer it more than what I had done before. The specificity of the peer reviews made it easier to identify what was wrong with the essay and how to fix it opposed to just being given simple comments about surface level errors. The amount of time I spent for this entire revision process for the essay was definitely 5 hours (maybe even more) but overall, it was worth it. The process of drafting the essay, having a self-reflection, and peer edits made it easier to fully execute the idea I had in mind. I think that my finished product is a pretty accurate representation of the literary experience I was aiming to describe, especially with the help of the process. There may still be some room for improvements but for the majority of the essay, I think it depicts my experience very well for someone reading who perhaps cannot relate. I think the re-envisioning of my paper to the digital project turned out pretty well. At first, I saw it as pointless but after completing the podcast, I enjoyed listening to it and thought it was pretty neat. I know for sure I learned how to pick and choose exactly what I wanted to include in my podcast so that it would stay on track with the narrative. I also learned how to work with the software I was using and edit things to get them the way I wanted.
